As authorized under the Code of Virginia § 2.2-3711(A)(8) and § 2.2-3711(A)(19), that Town Council convene a closed meeting for consultation with legal counsel employed or retained by the public body for specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel.  Specifically, the Town Council and staff will review with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters related to the police department assessment report, requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel; and to discuss the delivery and contents of a public safety assessment provided under contract relating to law enforcement operations, where discussion in an open meeting would jeopardize the safety of personnel or the public.
